Oh how times have changed.  The New York Yankees are going for their forth straight victory over the Boston Red Sox this evening.  The Yankees have defeated the Sox 13-6, 2-0 (15), and 5-0 the past three games.  Before this series at New Yankees Stadium, the Red Sox had defeated the Yankees eight straight times this season.  The Red Sox are 5 1/2 games behind the Yankees in the division though the Red Sox still have a one game lead in the AL Wild Card race.

Yankees and Mets Plagued By Empty Seats; High Priced Tickets

April 22nd, 2009

After billions of dollars spent by the Yankees and NY Mets on new stadiums, the New Yankees Stadium and CitiField ballpark have officially opened and not all fans are happy.  One of the biggest topics of debate is the price of tickets and the sheer number of empty seats and suites in both ballparks.  The empty seats are most notable during day games earlier this month.  The Yankees are not worried about the number of $350 seats on the first and third base sides that are empty.  The Yankees want to see how many of those seats and suites are filled when the Boston Red Sox pay their first visit to the new stadium before doing anything drastic in regards to ticket pricing.  Both the Mets and Yankees have done extensive studies to determin the true value of the best seats on the opne market and have priced those seats accordingly.  Still, it seems a shame that so many empty seats even early in the season cannot be filled.

UPDATE:  The New York Yankees did lower the prices on some seats and gave season tickets holders additional tickets for free.

Baseball Tickets Cheaper Than A Movie

April 9th, 2009

April is the perfect month to find cheap baseball tickets.

Some of the most expensive baseball tickets of the year are opening day tickets due to all the hype and marketing.  Baseball teams play 162 games a year, 81 home games and the only reason the opening day game is priced higher is because some fans want to be at the first game of the season.  Not too many people will pay a premium to see the second, third or fourth game of the season.  Here is where you can work the system to your advantage.  Games in April especially against other baseball teams are not a very good baseball team have tickets that are priced under face price.

Even for a team like the New York Mets which just built a new stadium, Citi Field, I can buy tickets for $6, $7, $9.  These are not the best seats, but they are decent upper levels that get me and my family in to the new ballpark for less than the price of a movie.
