Philadelphia Phillies May Win 2008 World Series

Monday, October 27th, 2008

The Philadelphia Phillies are one win away from their second ever World Series Championship, their only series win coming in 1980.   The Phillies lead the Tampa Bay Rays three games to one.

Philadelphia has not had a professional sports team win its league title since the Philadelphia 76′ers swept the Los Angeles Lakers in 1983.

Game Five is scheduled for tonight at Citizen’s Bank Park with Cole Hamels pitching for the Phillies and this Game Five is a very hot ticket as fans look to be part of baseball, World Series and Philadelphia history.

If the Tampa Bay Rays can start hitting and find a way to defeat the Phillies and their ace, the Rays will force Game Six back at Tropicana Field.

Tampa Bay Rays vs Philadelphia Phillies in World Series 2008

Monday, October 20th, 2008

The Tampa Bay Rays and Philadelphia Phillies will play each other in the World Series which begins Wednesday at Tropicana Field.  Even with a historic comeback in Game 5 and a Game 6 win, the ghosts were not with the Boston Red Sox tonight.  Tampa Bay outdueled the Red Sox 3-1 to win Game 7 and the 2008 ALCS and become American League Champions.  This will be Tampa Bay’s first trip to the World Series and has been Tampa’s first trip to the postseason after ten years of futility.  The Rays may believe they can do anything now that they have disposed of the defending world champions in a grueling seven game series.  There are a lot of great young players on both the Phillies and the Devil Rays and it should be a great and evenly matched World Series.

Boston Red Sox Force ALCS Game 7 vs Tampa Bay Rays

Sunday, October 19th, 2008

The Boston Red Sox forced Game 7 of the ALCS by defeating the Tampa Bay Rays 4-2 and trying up the ALCS 3-3.  Josh Beckett pitched a solid five innings for the Red Sox.  Kevin Youkilis and Jason Varitek hit key  home runs for the Sox.   Just a few short days ago, the Rays were seven outs away from the World Series with a 7-0 lead over the Red Sox.  Now, game 7 will be held Sunday and the winner will go to the World Series.  The Red Sox are 9-0 under Francona with elimination on the line in the Championship Series.

Philadelphia Phillies vs Tampa Bay Rays in 2008 World Series?

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

Unless something drastic occurs, the 2008 World Series match-up will feature the Philadelphia Phillies versus the Tampa Bay Rays.  The Philadelphia Phillies and the Tampa Bay Rays each have a three game to one lead in their respective League Championship Series.  With a win tonight over the LA Dodgers, the Phillies will advance to their first World Series since 1993.  The Phillies have only won one previous World Series in 1980.  Win a win over the Boston Red Sox in Game 5 Thursday, the Tampa Bay Rays can advance to their first World Series ever.  The Tampa Bay Devil Rays finished the 2007 season with the worst record in the American League.
